L’organetto, le cui origini risalgono allo SHENG, antichissimo strumento cinese a fiato,  fu messo a punto intorno al 1830, dopo numerosi esperimenti, dal viennese Cyrillus Demian, famoso costruttore di pianoforti e fisarmoniche il quale lo chiamò Accordion. Appartiene alla famiglia degli AEROFONI ‘strumento il cui suono è prodotto dalla vibrazione dell’aria tramite ance di metallo cosiddette libere’. In Italia prese il nome di Organetto diatonico a due bassi, poiché ha un sistema ‘bitonico’ in grado di emettere due diversi suoni per ciascun tasto, in apertura e chiusura di mantice.

Il simpatico termine dialettale DDU BBOTTE deriva dal movimento incessante che il suonatore fa nell’aprire e chiudere il mantice. In Abruzzo e Molise, specie nelle zone collinari e montane, i primi organetti apparvero verso la fine dell’ottocento, era ed è lo strumento che insieme alla fisarmonica faceva da padrone nelle feste in famiglia, questue e feste popolari.

Oggi LU DDU BBOTTE è tornato alla ribalta, ad avvicinarsi ci sono sempre più  persone e giovani musicisti attaccati ancora alle loro tradizioni che a ritmo di quadriglia, saltarello e pizzica salentina sperimentano nuove forme musicali.
